Everyone would start humming the title songs for ‘wadalwaat’ and ‘aabhalmaya’ when these Marathi serials were broadcast, and continue doing so even today. These beautifully composed songs are by none other than Shri Ashok Patki, who is a well-renowned music director and composer predominantly working in Marathi cinema, theatre and television. He has also composed several jingles for advertisements for products like ‘zandu balm’ and ‘washing powder nirma’. Such great contrast one would think, but composed by a single person nonetheless. This show by Fortune Entertainment was the 75th birthday celebration of this maestro. He was gifted with a poem written by our very own Fortune Entertainment’s owner Shreyasee Vaze-Mantrawadi. He was interviewed by Smita Gawankar, with melodious songs in between the interview.
A special guest for this show was Marathi actor Sunil Barve and Vijay Chavhan who has performed originally for the play ‘Moruchi mavshi’. Vijay Chavhan made the audience applaud and emotional after he did a few dance moves on the stage on a famous Marathi song ‘tang ting tinga’. He was present for the show with an oxygen cylinder despite being seriously ill and hospitalized. But like they say, the show must go on. He proved that audience’s response is a real oxygen for every artists.
